HR 100: It's Okay. I'm Okay.

HR 100: It's Okay. I'm Okay.

Wednesday, May 8, 2024 (8:00 AM - 9:30 AM) (EDT)

Description

It’s Okay not to be Okay. It’s not Okay to stuff our feelings, hide them from ourselves or others. Understanding our feelings is a beautiful beginning of healing. Somewhere along the way we might have been told to grow up, man up, put your big girl pants on or even worse, get over it.

You see we don’t get over it until we go through it and going through it means we must feel safe to share. Presenter Scott McGohan has been there. Someone once told him, “Often your brain is like a bad neighborhood, and you shouldn't be there alone."

According to Scott, “I didn’t want to be alone, but I was. I didn’t want others to know what I was going through. I thought my connections would have thought less of me. I just wanted it all to go away because I never really learned how to feel.”

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel and act. It can show up in many shapes and forms, including mental health, depression, anxiety, substance abuse or the big events in our lives that disrupt our feelings.

When the mind suffers the whole person cries out. We can create a beautiful future. Let’s go inside, together.
