2024 Legislative Recap Breakfast

On Wednesday, May 15, the NKY Chamber will host its annual Legislative Recap Breakfast at the Boone County Enrichment Center from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. 

The special event will include members of the Northern Kentucky Legislative Caucus and will review the legislative successes of the recent Kentucky General Assembly based on the NKY Chamber’s legislative agenda.  



Panelists: 

Senator Damon Thayer, Senate Majority Floor Leader

First elected to the Kentucky State Senate in a 2003 special election, Senator Thayer represents the citizens of the 17th District, which encompasses Grant, Scott and southern Kenton Counties. Senator Thayer graduated from Michigan State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. He is the President of Thayer Communications and Consulting LLC, a marketing communications firm in Georgetown.


Damon is Kentucky’s Senate Majority Floor Leader and was elected to that position by his Republican colleagues in January 2013. As a member of Senate Leadership, Senator Thayer serves on the Committee on Committees and the Rules Committee. Additionally, he serves on the Senate Agriculture Committee, Senate Licensing, Occupations and Administrative Regulations Committee, and the Senate State and Local Government Committee. Senator Thayer announced his retirement from the legislature late last year and just completed his final legislative session after nearly 22 years of dedicated service to NKY and the Commonwealth.

Senator Chris McDaniel, Chair of Senate Appropriations and Revenue
Senator Chris McDaniel was elected to the Kentucky State Senate in 2013. He represents the 23rd District encompassing Kenton County. Additionally, Sen. McDaniel served in the United States Army from 1997 to 2001 and received a Bachelor of Science from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, and a master’s in business administration from Northern Kentucky University. 

Senator McDaniel serves on multiple committees, including Occupations and Administrative Regulations, State and Local Government, and Appropriations and Revenue. He also served as an ex-officio member of several Senate Budget Review sub-committees. 


With a keen eye for fiscal responsibility, Sen. McDaniel has served as Chairman of the Appropriations and Revenue Committee since 2015. 

Representative Kim Moser, Chair, House Health Services Committee

Representative Kimberly Poore Moser, a Taylor Mill, KY resident, has served the 64th House district since 2017. She earned a BSN and an RN from Spalding University. Her experience includes working as a NICU nurse, a flight nurse, a director with the Northern Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy, and President of the AMA Alliance. 


Representative Moser serves on the House Elections, Constitutional Amendments & Intergovernmental Affairs, Judiciary, Transportation, and Budget Review for Health Services Committees and the House Standing Committee on Health Services, where she serves as Chairwoman. 


Representative Stephanie Dietz

Stephanie A. Dietz is currently serving her first term as State Representative of the 65th House District. The district includes portions of Covington, Edgewood, Ft. Wright, Park Hills, and Crestview Hills in Kenton County. Dietz received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Kentucky and obtained her law degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law at
Northern Kentucky University. 


Representative Dietz currently practices law in her family law practice.


Dietz is an active member of her community, serving in her home parish and volunteering in numerous organizations. In Frankfort, Dietz serves on the Family and Children, Judiciary, Veterans, Military Affairs and Public Protection, Appropriations, Revenue, and Budget Review on Transportation committees.


Representative Mike Clines

Representative Mike Clines of Alexandria serves the 68th House District in Campbell County. A former classroom teacher and administrator, Clines received his undergraduate degree in English and Teaching from Northern Kentucky University and obtained his master’s in education administration from the University of Cincinnati.

Clines is an education consultant in the Northern Kentucky Region and has served as a superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Covington school system for 12 years, with a combined 28 years as an educator. 


Clines currently serves on the House Agriculture, Licensing, Occupations, and Administrative Regulations, and Families and Children committees.
